Coaching Session #3: Thursday 7 September 2022

I led a discussion on emotional expressiveness and communication styles. I presented three types of emotional expressiveness - Ice Man, Tiger Woods, and Sine Wave - and asked you where he would place yourself on that spectrum. I emphasized the importance of identifying and expressing emotions in effective communication. I cited research that shows 85% of communication is nonverbal. You then discussed your own communication styles and how you can improve your emotional expressiveness. I discussed the results of the Multidimensional Emotional IQ assessment with you. Your score on this assessment (78/155, 8th percentile) is not very strong. This is a concern because this test was designed to flag individuals who might have difficulties understanding their own emotions and those of others. The good news is that emotional intelligence can be improved with knowledge and effort. Awareness is key to helping you find the motivation to improve in this area. The following is a summarized version of your emotional intelligence results, categorized according to areas where you excel, areas where there is room to grow even more and areas that you will need to work on improving.
