Peer Coaching Session #1 with Noni Papastefanou: Tuesday September 6, 2011

- Noni has been an airline Sales Executive for 12 years. - She currently spends about 55 hours per week related to her full-time job when you count the travel time. - Her current working conditions are quite stressful because of the change of companies 2 years ago, but it’s settling now. But it is not her passion. - She is involved in Health & Wellness, specializing in teaching Yoga and Gyrotonics - She teaches Yoga for 2-3 hours per week in her apartment location. - She also dedicates about 3-4 hours per week to personal fitness. - She would like to add Body/Mind coaching - Noni is also interested in Executive coaching i.e. Corporate wellness and stress management - Noni would like to offer these services to both corporate and personal individuals - She enrolled in April but really started a month, starting mixing levels, 3-4 hours to finish Level 1 and some Level 3 hours. She currently allocates 8 hours per week to ICA training, with Saturdays dedicated to assignments. - Noni is aiming for a September 2012 ICA graduation. - When Noni adds up the above hours on a weekly basis, she gets about 68-70 hours per week! - She is currently getting only 6 hours of sleep per day and she would like to get more like 7 hours per day. - Noni is finding the time management a little tough, and needs coaching around this.

Peer Coaching Session #2 with Noni: Tuesday September 13, 2011 - Noni's past week was a little hectic, but overall was OK - She is finding that the time in between events in her schedule to be too tight and is causing her some stress. - I asked Noni is rushing from one task to another has possibly become a habit and she said yes. - But she said that it was a habit that she wants to get rid of, which is really good, and she deserves acknowledgement for this! - ICA homework takes up a lot of time, especially on Saturdays - Noni has always been a busy person, even from her school days, and she does not take days off spontaneously - Her father was demanding and always expected a lot of Noni, which she responded to. - Noni is a lot like her Dad who was also driven, and she needs to keep busy and moving forward in her personal growth. - I asked Noni if she had done the "Values Game" and she said yes. Her five most important values are: (i) Love - a lot of meanings (ii) Health, Energy, Wellness (iii) Family (iv) Abundance (in many areas) (v) Creativity - I asked Noni how important spirituality was for her and she confirmed that it was very important. To her, it means: (i) Life must have a deeper meaning (ii) She wants to connect with a higher being (iii) She wants this to ideally be a part of her relationships - Noni confirmed that she needs to work on self-love and self-care, by not burning herself out so much. - In the area of her career, her current job is not as fulfilling as she would like it to be, and it does not provide her with the creativity and abundance that she is looking for. - After her ICA certification is complete in September 2012, she would like to offer Health and Wellness to corporations and individuals on a full-time basis. Action Plan from Session 2 - Noni agreed that by possibly postponing her ICA graduation until December 2012 instead of September 2012, then she can spend maybe 6 hours per week on ICA instead of 8 - This will give her a little more breathing room in between her scheduled tasks - Noni also agreed that she needs to schedule some break times during her busy week to refresh herself and to provide some quiet personal time - We scheduled our next coaching session for Wednesday September 21. Takeaways from Session 2 - I also asked Noni to reflect on the following deep question: "Do you really believe in your heart that God loves you unconditionally?"

Peer Coaching Session #3 with Noni: Tuesday September 20, 2011 - Good week so far - Noni still focused on September ICA graduation - Noni was able to put her exercise in morning which gave her more energy for the rest of the day, and gave her more time to transition from one task to another. - She injured her lowered back and she wants to get to the bottom of why this happened. - Noni was able to get some free time from Friday to Sunday during a Yoga session - Noni wants to examine the option of looking another job related to training in a corporation to align her more with her goals in ICA and Yoga - Noni would needs to make approximately the same income and not much less - The current economic situation in Greece does not lend itself for a job move but Noni is willing to explore other countries in Europe - She is willing to use Placement Agencies to help exploring other jobs - Noni meditated on the question of God's love for her. She tries to listen to that small voice within her which is part of the Divine. - When she listens to that voice and energy within, then things flow a lot better - Noni also believes that God is pure unconditional love - Noni needs to love herself more and to stop pressuring herself as much as she does - Noni is very ambitious and she wants to live life to the fullest - With regard to her career, she is at a 5 out 10, and she is below 5 for her financial goals. For love, Noni rates that 8 out 10. Abundance is currently 7 out 10, and Creativity is currently 4-5 out of 10. Family is currently 9 out of 10 with her own family members, and less with regard to creating her own family. - Anthony commented to Noni that our success in life is not so much tied to the outcome of our plans but more in the fact that we are trying our best to live a purposeful life full of self-awareness. Action Plan from Session 3 - She is going to explore other careers related more to the training field - She is going to celebrate that fact that she is a unique and special human being by enjoying her upcoming weekend at a Yoga conference, and not thinking about anything else like work or ICA - Noni will be away for the week of September 26 in London, so our next session was scheduled for Wednesday October 5 at 2:00 PM EST. Takeaways from Session 3 - Noni is taking away a lot of encouragement from today's session, especially the fact that the journey is more important than whether she arrives at her planned destination points. - She is also more aware of her values and wanting to make sure that she is living her life more aligned to those values.

Peer Coaching Session #4 with Noni: Wednesday October 5, 2011 - Noni's business trip last week was fine - Her back pain initially caused problems early in the week, but now it's settled down - Her relationship with her partner improved as they were able to go to the business conference together and spend some quality time. - She had a difficult week at work though, and she got frustrated to the point that she was tempted to look for another job, but then she reasoned that it was not the right time to do so. - This experience at work however, confirmed that Noni is on the right track with developing her coaching skills and eventually her Body Mind Wellness (BMW) Coaching practice. - Her manager at work said that she could apply for an Area Manager position in Cyprus, but Noni figured that this would increase her stress. - Noni needs a change now in her work life, but the current economic climate in Greece is difficult to allow this. She needs to continue putting all the pieces in place (behind the scenes though) to eventually launch her Business Coaching practice full-time. She cannot have another job on the side outside of her current job. - Noni is for the first time in her life considering moving countries to get a new job, but her partner would find it hard to move as he has a six year old child. - The maximum time that Noni feels that she can stay in her current job is one more year. - In the next couple of months, she has quite a few business trips to make and this will add to her stress. - She would like to start working on her Body Mind Wellness (BMW) Coaching website and marketing material, but not before next summer. She will however try to keep track on tips and information related to this task in her blog. - Noni is currently helping a female friend of hers with BMW coaching. This woman wants to get pregnant, lose weight and stop smoking. She observed how well Noni takes care of her own health, and thus was drawn to Noni for help. Noni has committed to helping her over the next few months using a combination of Gyrotonics and BMW coaching. - I mentioned to Noni that this was a good confirmation to her and a confidence builder that she will be eventually be able to draw people to her coaching practice by her own passion for health and wellness. Action Plan from Session 4 - Noni will start collecting information in her blog on websites, business cards, and related marketing material as she comes across it - She agreed to possibly contacting head hunters for other jobs while she trains for and builds her coaching practice. - Our next session was scheduled for Wednesday October 12 at 3:00 PM EST. Takeaways from Session 4 - Noni realized the importance of holding up the vision of seeing herself as a full-time "BMW" coach in her own practice in approximately one year from now. This will be able to get her through the stressful times in the next year as she juggles her many commitments. - She will also celebrate the fact that she now has her first client, which reinforces her vision above.

Peer Coaching Session #5 with Noni: Wednesday October 12, 2011 - It was a busy week for Noni but manageable - Normally, Noni spends about 6-8 hours on ICA work, but this week she only spent 4 hours because of the business of her current job - I asked Noni if she is OK with ICA work slipping here and there, and she said that she is OK, but she is still aiming for a June graduation or September. - As January approaches, her current job should settle down because there are quite a few business trips coming up from October until December - In January 2012, Noni will map out more accurately her ICA scheduling - Noni had a second Gyotonic and "BMW" coaching session with her existing client. - During the coaching session, Noni went through the discovery process with her client, and they were able to set goals for her client. - Noni still feels a little insecure about her coaching but that's going to get easier as she develops her confidence and tools - Noni has only started collecting information on websites and marketing material not in a blog by subscribing to various magazines from Harvard etc. on "BMW" coaching, and when the time is right maybe in 2012, she will refer to this file for ideas. - Noni has decided to stay at her current job but she is exploring training companies - Noni also mentioned that she sometimes gets stressed when she thinks about how she will eventually make the transition to her coaching practice one day, and all that might be involved in such a transition. - I asked Noni if she had thought about what steps might be involved and if her current studio location where she lives could accommodate a full-time coaching practice. She said that it could not and is also not professional enough to offer both Gyrotonics and BMW coaching. She would have to rent a bigger studio with an office for that. - I asked her if she knew of anyone with a coaching practice in Greece who had gone through the setup of her own business, and she said that she did know someone who she could talk to. Action Plan from Session 5 - Noni is going to continue networking casually (without stress) with training companies to see if a training position might materialize for her in the next few months. - She is also going to speak with her friend who is a coach to start gathering and filing information about what it takes to actually start a coaching practice - I also acknowledged Noni for her good self-awareness and for taking the necessary steps to solve her issues of not being happy in her current job and of starting her own coaching practice. - Our next session was scheduled for Monday October 17 at 2:00 PM EST. Takeaways from Session 5 - Noni said that she started out the session feeling a little confused and overwhelmed at the fact that she really does not enjoy her current job, and what it would entail to eventually start her own coaching practice. She said that by talking it out and by having a more concrete plan, she feels less confused and stressed. - I acknowledged to Noni that I noticed that she seemed lighter in her voice and that I could pickup more energy and less stress as she itemized her action plan above.

Peer Coaching Session #6 with Noni: Monday October 17, 2011 - Noni did her first in-class coaching session in ICA module on "Creating Action Part 2". It went quite well for Noni and her client had a break-through at the end of the session! - I congratulated Noni on her success. - I asked Noni about what networking she has done regarding networking with training companies, and she has made contacts with two firms; Body IQ and Canadian Firm offering NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming). - Noni wants to meet with the Canadian firm to ask if they would sponsor her NLP training, and in return, she would offer her services - Noni's energy level and lightness was very noticeable in this session because she said that she feels like her confidence really improved after her first ICA coaching. - Noni has not yet gathered any information from her friend on what it takes to setup a coaching practice - Noni was brain-storming on how she could approach companies and even hospitals to offer BMW with NLP Coaching - Noni sometimes gets a bit confused and overwhelmed when she gets lots of ideas around her coaching practice and training. - I asked Noni how she could deals with all of these ideas and she said that she would document them maybe in her blog and prioritize them, starting with focusing on her ICA training, then possibly taking the NLP training, and maybe the Stress Management course etc. Action Plan from Session 6 - Noni will be meeting with the two training firms we mentioned, the Body IQ firm and the Canadian firm offering NLP training. - She will document some of her ideas in a blog and prioritize then to reduce the confusion around so many ideas. - Our next session was scheduled for Thursday October 27 at 1:00 PM. Takeaways from Session 6 - Noni's energy level and lightness was very noticeable in this session because she said that she feels like her confidence really improved after her first ICA coaching.

Peer Coaching Session #7 with Noni: Thursday October 27, 2011 - Noni was in Cyprus from Friday to Sunday, and in Thessoloniki from Monday to Tuesday. - Noni had a conflict in Thessoloniki with manager but after some discussions, they resolved their differences. Noni said that it was a great learning experience about herself. - Noni wants to be able to respond more in real-time when her values are being challenged, as opposed to reacting. - I asked Noni what techniques she can use to deal with these situations of conflict when they occur: (i) She said that she could try to pause for 10 seconds during a conversation in order to respond instead of reacting, but she said that this does not seem realistic (ii) She said that if she could combine our mental side (i.e. rational thinking) and our emotional side (i.e. feelings of anger and frustration), then we might be able to be more in control (iii) We discussed "mindfulness" and how the practice of this will also help when in situations (iv) Noni also said that self-care is important in reducing stress and in this way, it would minimize pent-up frustration when dealing with others in general. Action Plan from Session 7 - Practice the following techniques to try to practice responding vs. reacting, such (i) pausing for 10 seconds and breathing, (ii) the idea of sharing with the other person my feelings as well as my thinking around why I am feeling say frustrated, will help greatly in reducing emotional outbursts, (iii) mindfulness, and (iv) self-care to reduce stress in general - Our next session was scheduled for Monday October 31 at 2:00 PM. Takeaways from Session 7 - Noni got a few techniques to try to practice responding vs. reacting, such as the ones above. - Noni generally felt lighter and more positive about trying these techniques, and she also realized that it was more the effort in being self-aware and wanting to be a good example to others that was important, and that we are not perfect as human beings.

Peer Coaching Session #8 with Noni: Thursday October 31, 2011 - Noni did came some catch-up with ICA material, about 5 hours worth - Noni asked what structure she should use when coaching - I was able to coach Noni through the process of coaching using what she has learned from her ICA training so far. Action Plan from Session 8 - Noni is going to summarize what she learned from our session around structuring her own coaching session - She is going to explore the ICA forums looking for a peer client - Our next session was scheduled for Wednesday November 9 at 4:00 PM. Takeaways from Session 8 - Noni feels that a lot of useful information was discussed today around how to coach - Noni liked how I coached her the process of coaching - She now has more confidence in her ability to be a peer coach

Peer Coaching Session #9 with Noni: Wednesday November 9, 2011 - I asked Noni how she feels about the ICA program, and she said that it's OK except that she has to be self-disciplined to keep up - Noni said that she met with her BMW client for two sessions, last week and this week. But Noni found that her client did most of the talking (99%) and got off topic quite a lot, which was frustrating. - I asked Noni what she could do next time this happens. She said that she would try the following action plan: Action Plan from Session 9 - First clarifying what coaching is, what the role of the coach is and what the role of the client is. - Mention that the coach listens 80% of the time and speaks 20% of the time. - She will ask her client if she is ready to be coached and if she is ready to take responsibility for her action plan - She will also try to ask powerful questions to try to possibly get her client unstuck and to get to the underlying belief(s) that might be causing her client to lack self-care and self-love. - Our next session was scheduled for Wednesday November 16 at 4:00 PM. Takeaways from Session 9 - Noni is feeling better about having more focus on what she wants to get out her client. - She is feeling clearer about her action plan to possibly get her client unstuck and to get to the underlying belief(s) that might be causing her client to lack self-care and self-love

Peer Coaching Session #10 with Noni: Monday November 16, 2011 - I asked Noni how she feels about the ICA program, and she said that it's OK - Noni asked to be coached on how to eventually transition from her current full-time job to her full-time BMW business encompassing (i) Coaching using tools such NLP, (ii) Yoga, (iii) Gyrotonics, (iv) Workshops to companies and hospitals on stress management - Noni wants to make her offerings more specific so that she can present them to individuals and organizations, and this will lead to her marketing strategy - Noni envisions her workshops working as follows: Step 1: Show clients how to practice mindfulness, breathing, posture. Step 2: Then introduce NLP for stress management Step 3: Give tools for the clients to practice stress management - Noni envisions her private practice including a studio for Yoga and Gyrotonics, with an office for one-on-one coaching - I acknowledged Noni for having such a clear vision about her business offerings and structure at such an early stage of her ICA training! - I asked Noni if she can afford in the first year of her BMW business to take an income cut and she said that she could afford a 30% decrease at most but that after year 1 her income needs to eventually increase to the current level in her full-time position. - I mentioned to Noni that this was a realistic expectation and that it would relieve some of the stress of eventually going full-time in her BMW practice - I asked Noni if she currently enjoys her full-time job and here is what she said which I thought was so positive: "I currently love what I do, but I would eventually like to do what I love!" - I acknowledged Noni for such a positive and practical way of living her life, and is certainly one that will not leave her with any regrets or bitterness later in her life. Action Plan from Session 10 - Noni said that she will work on an action plan and have one for next week's session. - Our next session was scheduled for Wednesday November 23 at 4:00 PM. Takeaways from Session 10 - Noni feels better about her business because she was able to put her ideas in words, and she was able to write these ideas down. - Noni also found that as she spoke about her ideas today, other ideas came up which she had not thought about, which she also documented

Peer Coaching Session #11 with Noni: Monday November 30, 2011 - I asked Noni how she feels about the ICA program, and she said that it's OK - Noni met with the company BodyIQ in Greece on November 18. Company has assembled a team of health professionals to work with clients. An initial health assessment is done for each client and then a program is designed for the client to - The wife of the CEO of BodyIQ has a company dealing with Leadership Coaching. - Once Noni has her "package"offering finalized, she can approach both companies for opportunities - Noni's plans for the first quarter for 2012 regarding ICA are: (i) Work on coaching model (ii) Work on one Power Tool (iii) Get 2 peer clients and start peer coaching (iv) Continue working on modules and reflections Action Plan from Session 11 - Noni will put her Q1 2012 high-level calendar of tasks for ICA into her WordPress blog and then break this down into smaller tasks, which she will then put into her iPad calendar. - Our next session was scheduled for Thursday December 8 at 3:30 PM. Takeaways from Session 11 - Noni has noticed her perspective changing for the better and she has more peace. She has a better view of her goals and she is able to use her ICA training in her current job. - Noni is much better adjusted to the fact that her ICA program is more of a process
